Tipoy (Steve / Teban / Tibong / Tebs) and I just finished watching the first episode of Desperate Housewives Season 4. Recap: The season ended with Idi preparing to kill herself. Fastforward: The season opened with Idi strategically preparing her “final” step to death with her neck suspended by a silk scarf. She planned to “step off” the chair just as (oh no I forgot his name again!) Mr. Solis (let’s call him that) steps into the room. The funny thing though is as she hears the footsteps she stepped off the chair. Sure enough Mr. Solis was on his way to the bedroom but someone enters their kitchen door — their elderly neighbor (the one who watches over Lynette’s kids). She urgently called him to go outside. To make the long story short, Idi almost ended her life if the neighbor didn’t glance up and see her hanging silhouette. Hahaha! Anyway, she was saved by Mr. Solis in the nick of time — poor him. He didn’t know what he was in for. Emotional blackmail. That’s what they usually call it.

Okay …. so what is the title of my blog all about? Well … Susan made a racial comment about Philippine medicine! Hmph!

Initially I didn’t hear the comment at all because I dismissed it as just some other term. However, Tipoy pointed it out to me so we did a rewind …

Okay, so when did Susan make such a statement? Well … Susan was being checked by a new doctor who diagnosed her as possibly undergoing menopause. She was astounded by that! She demanded that the doctor show her his credentials to assure her that he was not a product of Philippine medicine. It was not exactly stated in that manner but the gist of it is the same. She did not believe the doctor’s diagnosis not until she saw that he graduated from Harvard, proven by the certificate hanging on the wall… etc. etc. Let’s fastforward a bit … this Harvard doctor was wrong in his diagnosis. Susan was actually pregnant. Hahaha! Now I think the purpose of that clinic scene was to actually introduce the new character of the season — the doctor. He’s the husband of Susan’s friend who previously lived in Wysteria lane. Their family just moved in. As any new character(s) in DH they have some fishiness about them. Their daughter could not recall anything about her childhood except some traumatic experience which has molestation written all over it. Enough about that …

this is the part where she punched those lines about doctors in the Philippines

Anyway, the episode was all about secrets … the secrets women keep from their friends.

Bri was in her “pretend” pregnancy mode. To those who don’t know why … she’s doing this to cover up her teenage daughter’s pregnancy. She sent her pregnant daughter away (I forgot but I think she sent her to boarding school). She plans to claim the baby as her own the moment her daughter gives birth. So she puts on a show to her friends because she didn’t want to cause a scandal.

Lynette, on the other hand, tries to hide her illness from her friends. But in the end, her friends found out when she took her wig off to prove her point to an over-zealous parent that she just didn’t have the energy to chair an event at her children’s school.

Gabriel was planning to run away with her ex-husband, Mr. Solis, at the eve of her wedding. Things turned sour, however, when Idi tried to kill herself because Mr. Solis felt responsible for it. In the end, she became the mistress of her ex-husband. Hahaha!
