the next following day we’re all set to go spelunking the Sumaging cave which is actually the main tourist attraction in Sagada … I have with me my D200 and 17-55/2.8 plus I tag along a 12-24/4 as I had a feeling 17-55 might not do the job which I was right, hehehe … Malou and I were sooo excited by but unluckily Malou forgot to bring her cam but it was ok but a bit sayang lng since there are places in the cave the a DSLR is quite bothersome to take out in the dry pack … have with me a dry box to secure my gear also a couple of shirts for me and Malou and several change for the lunch after the caves, hahaha…

everyone who wanted to go to Sumaging must first register at the main municipality to be briefed and must get a licensed guide as you could get lost or worst hurt yourself by doin it alone (if ever you could that is, haha) … kuya Jes and his friend Joshua served as our guide so we have enough guides for the group … kuya Jes maximized our experience wherein we didn’t get a jeep from the municipality goin to Sumaging so we walked for about 30min or so, nyahaha … anyway, we went down to the cave and only 2 “petromax” lighting our way … the first part is quite messy wherein you have to step a lot of guano poop’s of the bat-caves which also make the trail a bit slippery so you have to use your hands as well sometimes whenever there are challenging rocks to ascend or step-down, hahaha … the fun starts near the mid-section of the cave wherein you have to walk bare feet on the rocks with rushing free-flowing freezing water and if you think that the rocks is slippery? think again coz its really rough and if you have a lot of callous on your sole, by the time the trip is over you’ll feel it was been scraped , hahaha

Malou’s rappelling, wahehe ![]()

I was so amazed that Malou was able to withstand a lot of strenuous activities (as the trail-path we took is not that easy … and yes there are a lot of trail-path in the cave that are more challenging if you are really adventurous and into spelunking, hehehe) … Malou was able to crawl to a small hole, both rappelling ascending and descending, immersing almost chest level of freezing water, and hopping through several rocks and climbing the last leg of the trip which is quite a challenge ha!?, hehehe mwuah!!! … its really a different world and experience inside the cave and it was an experience you’ll never forget, hahaha …
well, hope you guys like the pics and after Sumaging cave we went to the burial cave and the hanging coffin’s which I’ll post either later or next week, hehehe … so keep on coming back ![]()

It’s been a while since I’ve logged in to our site.
Looking at the pics, they do look cool! Hahaha. I can say that trip was a different kind of fun and the cave was breathtaking (both literally and figuratively).
So for the not-so-athletic, be very prepared! Though I was informed that the path we took was not normally traversed by average tourists. Don’t know how accurate this info is. I felt like I was in an Indiana Jones movie. What we lacked was the background music.
