Dear diary,

Tipoy accompanied me today as I scoured St. Francis Square in search of Christmas gifts for my inaanaks.  We ended up buying stuff for ourselves as well.  Splurging some of our 13th month paycheck and consoling ourselves that it was well-earned and we deserved a little treat.  Anyway, with armloads of shopping bags (Tipoy carried most of it.  Hehehe.  Thanks thanks!), we made our way to SM MegaMall.

In SM MegaMall, we entered the realm of Toy Kingdom where we felt right at home.  It’s amazing how toys have evolved from simple plastic plates and palayok to battery operated food processors.  Amazing!  There were toys that even automatically knitted scarves, and sewing machines that had real needles and threads! Hahaha! (I expected the needles to have been made of plastic.)  If those toys existed many years ago, my mom would have banned it from the house.  I wasn’t allowed to get near needles or much less plug an electric cord until I was around seven years old.  Anyway, enough of the what-ifs :).  What amazed me even more were the toys for the big boys — battery operated remote control robots! I would have bought one if they were less pricey.  Another “Toy Kingdom Wonder” were the Japanese dolls.  I even asked Tipoy if they were really for kids because they were bikini clad and were in seductive positions.  (I guess I just never imagined these “toys” to be in a store where kids could point them out to their parents and say, “I want this toy Mom!” or “Mom, someday I want to look like that!”  A big laugh if a little boy says just that.  At least at an early age, he knows what he wants).  Anyway, they were still acceptable if we justify them as dress-up dolls.

Tipoy and I felt right at home in the land of toys.  I guess there’s still a ”lost boy”… or girl… in all of us waiting to to think of a happy thought and fly off to NeverLand.  I know what my happy thought is for today.  Couldn’t have enjoyed it more without happiness right by my side (… carrying the things I bought. Nagweight-lifting ata si Tipoy today :)).

How about you? What is your happy thought? :)    Â
