It seems not so long ago when we were inseparable…
When we vowed to stay friends forever …
When we had code names for people we liked and people we’d rather live without …
When we knew what each other was thinking by just a look …
When we even created exclusive names …
What happened to us?
We grew old … some people would say,
We became too busy …
We were separated by distance …
We met other friends …
And soon our similarities no longer held us together …
As years passed us by, these similarities were replaced by differences …
Now, we say brief hellos …
Though we still talk about our common friends …
There are awkward pauses where there was no room for interjection before …
No one’s to blame since it’s been a long time …
In this season of Christmas, I just want to say hello to you, my friends …
I remember … I smile … I get teary-eyed … at the memories we’ve created together
Wherever you are … remember, you always have a friend in me.
