Something new …

Monday
Jan 22,2007

It’s funny how a strange place can give us the opportunity to start something new. Kaya eto ako sa Chicago, trying to learn how to cook and explore my domesticated skills. Something I couldn’t do back home for some inexplainable reason.

The first thing I tried was to cook yakisoba over a stove because the microwave was broken. A few days after, when the microwave was fixed, I cooked rice (ala microwave cause there was no rice cooker). And today I shopped for ingredients at a Filipino store. Ingredients for what? Nice question. Even I, did not know the answer to that. I thought I was trying to find ingredients for adobo but I ended up buying things that were very un-adobo.

Here’s a picture of me trying to figure out if tomatoes were an ingredient of adobo (hahaha! kidding! Of course I know it isn’t) …

grow old with U

Friday
Jan 19,2007

twas a lovely day to roam around Bacolod that day and after we passed by the Bacolod Pavillion we went to BREDCO port in reclamation area which is just adjacent … anyway, we saw these lovely couple sitting by the post and watching over the horizon and I can’t help to grab Malou’s cam and take a pic of them … sweet! :) … haaay, makes me wana sing Adam Sandler’s song, hehehe

I wanna make you smile whenever you’re sad
Carry you around when your arthritis is bad
All I wanna do is grow old with you

I’ll get your medicine when your tummy aches
Build you a fire if the furnace breaks
Oh it could be so nice, growing old with you

I’ll miss you … I’ll kiss you
Give you my coat when you are cold

I’ll need you … I’ll feed you
Even let ya hold the remote control

So let me do the dishes in our kitchen sink
Put you to bed if you’ve had too much to drink
I could be the man who grows old with you
I wanna grow old with you

~ grow old with you (Adam Sandler)

2 Lagoon wid LUVs

Friday
Jan 19,2007

posting some pics during our stay and our wanderings in Bacolod last December, hehehe :) … Malou and I went to almost everywhere we could think of to enjoy the places we used to go, to reminisce, and chit-chat about what we did, hahaha … and one of those places is the Bacolod Lagoon where the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod shines behind it. My sister even told me “tsk tsk of all places duon pa kyo, hahaha” … haaay, funny how things are coz we truly appreciate what we had, its beauty, and value when its gone … we’re there to enjoy the moment, the sights, the people, and taking a lot of snapshots (feeling foreigner, bwahahaha) … and watta kewl day to end it with a big bowl of Mongolian grill (actually eat all you can yun, hehehe)

don’t it always seem to go
that you don’t know what you got till it’s gone
they paved paradise and put up a parkin’ lot

Chicago Brought me Closer to Pinas

Thursday
Jan 18,2007

It’s funny how distance brought me closer to people back home. At first I thought I’d be extremely isolated from the people I care about but I wasn’t. Well, maybe not in the way I expected to be. With the current setup, I seek every opportunity to communicate with them be it through Chikka or through IM. I find myself calling home more often than I do in Manila. I find myself texting them more often (through Chikka of course) :)

hello Chicago

Monday
Jan 15,2007

I arrived yesterday in Chicago at around 1pm CST which would be around 3am Manila time. I went back to the past, so to speak. I left Manila last Jan. 13 and arrived in Chicago on the same day even after almost 17 hours of travel. Harharhar. :)

Chicago is a cool city (not only in its literal sense). The city is so peaceful. Not much people roam the streets. Probably because it’s cold and we arrived on a weekend. I have yet to see on Monday. :) In a way, it’s like Greenbelt because everything is so accessible. Except that it’s extremely cold (that people behind you might say you’re smoking even if you’re just breathing in and out :) ), and there’s no pollution.

I’m posting some of the pics I took.
