burial cave and hanging coffin

Tuesday
Apr 8,2008

this is the 3rd part of my post during our vacation in Sagada :) … anyway, after spelunking Sumaging cave we went to the burial cave but Malou’s already too tired since Sumaging swept all of her charm and energy, hahaha … well, just me with Kuya Jes, John, Jucil, and Chocho who went on and check it out ;)

coffins were all made from pine-trees which is quite common in Sagada and some were more than a 100yrs old already but might be due to their weather that most coffins are still preserved … but by simply looking at it, all of their dead were not mummified not like the kabayan mummy of the Ibaloi and some were also desecrated just to make the tourist mystified and amazed, hahaha … also were informed that a lot of coffins were destroyed during a heavy quake which left a white powder located on the corner of the cave … also the hole of this cave connects to Sumaging cave and could be reached by 4hrs of walk … hehehe, yeah count me out dude, hahaha

spelunking Sumaging cave

Friday
Apr 4,2008

the next following day we’re all set to go spelunking the Sumaging cave which is actually the main tourist attraction in Sagada … I have with me my D200 and 17-55/2.8 plus I tag along a 12-24/4 as I had a feeling 17-55 might not do the job which I was right, hehehe … Malou and I were sooo excited by but unluckily Malou forgot to bring her cam but it was ok but a bit sayang lng since there are places in the cave the a DSLR is quite bothersome to take out in the dry pack … have with me a dry box to secure my gear also a couple of shirts for me and Malou and several change for the lunch after the caves, hahaha…

SAGADA Trip

Thursday
Apr 3,2008

Malou and I together with our friends Ptr.Charlie, Grace, John, Jucil, and Chocho spent most of the holy week holiday at Sagada which is near the provincial capital of Bontoc … it’s a 6 hours bus ride starting from the Dangwa bus station in Baguio over the narrow mountain tracks traversing the Cordilleras … so it twas a 12 hours ride all-in-all from Manila and the snake-road goin to Baguio is nothing compared goin to Sagada, hahaha … when you arrived in Sagada you will be in awe of God’s creation as the sight is really breath taking on how vast and beautiful the place is … anyway, we all stayed at kuya Jes and everyday we take a bath at below 20C with no heated water, *bbbrrr .. hahaha … twas quite an adventure that I haven’t have for a very long time now and a life time to experience not only the place but really living in Sagada.

a lot has happened this December as soon as I step my foot back to our home town, Bacolod City … well, first and foremost my Dad had a surgery for extracting the hemorrhoids which we stayed about 3-4days in the hospital … it was a successful surgery and would like to thank all who prayed for my Dad ;)

we also had a breakfast at the beach and celebrated our monthsary here in the city of smiles so what else you could ask for!?, hehe … cant post the pics yet as I dump them all to MACoy and its with Malou right now, hahaha

ooh did I say that I already fired my 1st few rounds with Mark (my brother-in-law) 45 caliber?, nyahaha … yep yep at camp motelibano and it was really kewl to fire THE REAL THING!!! nothing beats the experience and after 5-6 mags of rounds, I fired my cousin 22 pistol which is very light but still the same, deadly ;)

kablam!, hehe

lakbay Intramuros

Sunday
Sep 16,2007

last weekend we went to Intramuros with our mentor, Braulio Cabral from the US … anyway, we had so much fun and learned a lot from Carlos Celdran, our tour-guide … things you don’t get from the four corners of the classroom and things that will open your eyes how fab, interesting, and intricate people we were from the Datus to the Spanish colony up to the Japanese occupancy … and some highlights of the lies and deceit that weaved the very fabric of our history.

We really recommend this trip to anyone who wanted to know more about Intramuros and be entertained by a crazy, funny, and out-of-the-box information from Carlos Celdran … hhhmm, if weather serves us goodie we might take another tour but this is it’ll be in Binondo, Manila and our tour-guide will be Carlos himself … again, wahehehehe ;)

beach bummers

one of the many things we did while we were in Bacolod was to dip ourselves with one of the many beautiful beach spots in Negros Occidental which is the Punta.Bulata resort … well, as of the moment really had a limited time to process the pics I took during our trip as we’re preparing for another trip, a trip to Bora together with several photographer friends of mine, weeeeh …

haaay, really can’t wait na to dip and take several shots of the island plus enjoying several local island delicacies with Malou … hhmmm, one of the many things not to miss is the Jona’s Milkshake, yummy … any more suggestion guys? :D

hope you enjoy this few shots and I’ll be adding more together with Malou’s kazin Kae accidental photoshoot, hehehe ;)

home at the city of smiles

Tuesday

twas been a while we haven’t posted anything as Malou and I went home to Bacolod, the city where we grew up for a few days rest and to enjoy our families … last Friday we went out to Bob’s cafe (owned by Bob’s but presented like a Starbuks, hehe) just to hang around with each other and tinkering with Malou’s MacBook plus installing and testing Photoshop CS2 to check how much is the difference running it on OS X platform … and I’m glad to say that it was waaay different, hahaha … I’m thinking that I might buy a mouse for the Mac as I’m not a fan of touch-pad’s.

before I went to Leigh’s hotel room to start off their wedding day, my family went to the beach Punta.Taytay (lit. dulo ng tulay) … anyway, it was kewl to eat lots of seafoods plus unwinding to the scenery before the heavy duty, hehehe

the beach is not what I could remember noon since it was more cleaner and simpler … haaay, the industrialization and urbanization of the city … progress but loosing sight of what our children could enjoy in their generation and the next generation to come.
