A photojournalist fell victim over the weekend to the notorious “Bukas Kotse Gang” when who stole his camera and accessories worth P200,000 while his car was parked in front of the Manila Police District headquarters on United Nations Avenue in Manila’s Ermita district.
In his complaint before the MPD Theft and Robbery Section, Linus Escandor, 40, a member of the MPD Press Corps and Tempo photographer, said the incident occurred about 10 p.m. Sunday.
At the time, Escandor said that he had just came from the coverage of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) at the Araneta Coliseum and proceeded to the MPD headquarters for another assignment.
He parked his Land Cruiser (YBL-654) in front of the MPD and crossed the avenue to go to 7-eleven convenience store to buy food.
After a few minutes, he returned to his car and noticed that it was forcibly opened. He later found out that the Canon Digital Camera with three lens worth P200,000 were missing.
As of posting time, the victim is still at a loss as to how the crime happened right in front of the MPD headquarters
